VITAMIN C

A powerful antioxidant and an integral part of our skin’s health, Vitamin C has been shown in clinical studies to protect collagen against the free radical damage our skin is exposed to from everyday stressors, such as weather, pollution, smoke, and other environmental toxins. In addition to protecting against future damage, Vitamin C has been shown to help reverse current skin concerns, including brightening uneven skin tone, fighting acne, and soothing inflammation.

The skin naturally contains high amounts of Vitamin C as a physiological substance, mainly as part of the skin’s defense system against oxidation. As it works to defend against stressors, however, it gets damaged and depleted over time or due to external stressors. Vitamin C is anti-inflammatory and can be used for skin conditions like acne vulgaris and even rosacea. Vitamin C is most widely known for its ability to both prevent and reverse post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and give a brightening effect by inhibiting the enzyme tyrosinase that controls melanin production in the skin.

VITAMIN C IN SKINCARE

Vitamin C is a powerful yet volatile ingredient, but without the proper formulation, it can quickly be rendered inactive and, therefore, ineffective. Vitamin C can cause irritation to the skin, making it crucial to combine it with gentle, anti-inflammatory ingredients without compromising its effectiveness. Additionally, most forms of Vitamin C are water soluble and work best in water-based serums as opposed to creams to maintain the correct pH balance.

Our Illuminessensce C serum is a highly effective water-based serum that combines concentrated Vitamin C in the form of Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Swiss glacial water, and hyaluronic acid in a shelf-stable and non-irritating formula. This combination minimizes dark spots by 25% and increases firmness by 30%. When used daily over the course of eight to 12 weeks, users can expect to see a brighter, clearer, and more youthful complexion overall.

ENCAPSULATED SWISS GLACIER WATER

Also known as Lipobelle Glacier Water, this unique ingredient is formulated from pure Swiss glacier water that has been encapsulated into liposomes. Liposomes are small spheres that can be delivered more effectively past the trans-epidermal barrier to deliver water deeper within the skin than traditional water molecules. Swiss glacier water has a unique composition compared to other water thanks to its source high in the Valais Alps. It travels through deep layers of rock, stone, and other sediments and becomes enriched with minerals and trace elements.

SWISS WATER IN SKINCARE

Turning Swiss glacier water into a liposomal form enhances its penetration into the skin and gives longer-lasting moisture and hydration than that of other water molecules. In addition to their smaller size, the phospholipids that form the liposomes are known as “physiological ingredients,” meaning they are significant components of skin cell membranes and help maintain healthy cell function and improve the smoothness and suppleness of the skin.

Due to its high purity, Lipobelle Glacier water is the ideal water to refresh skin. Its rich nutrient profile helps protect the outer layer of the skin for improved skin barrier function while increasing the hydration within the skin as well. In vitro studies have shown Lipobelle Glacier water to have antioxidant properties that protect skin cells against heat stress.

HYALURONIC ACID

A humectant that attracts and binds water, hyaluronic acid is a naturally-occurring substance found within skin, joints, and tissue. Hyaluronic acid can bind up to 1000 times its weight in water and serves as a protective filter that hydrates and prevents water loss. It is also an anti-inflammatory that has a soothing effect on the skin, creating a suitable environment for healthy cellular function.

HYALURONIC ACID IN SKINCARE

Maintaining adequate moisture and hydration is the foundation of youthful-looking skin and prevents visible signs of aging. Hyaluronic acid is one of the most beneficial ingredients for preserving its loss and protecting the skin’s natural barrier. Hyaluronic acid binds water wherever it is present, resulting in visibly plumper, fuller skin that’s more elastic and youthful. It has various benefits, including boosting skin cell renewal, collagen and elastin production, preventing dryness and dehydration, increasing elasticity, and reducing scarring. It is well tolerated by all skin types.
